The value of exercise to our bodies is enormous. It is an activity that we can indulge in if we want to be healthy. It is a lifestyle choice that when practiced regularly will benefit all of us. It is a must. We do it on a routine basis, not when we feel like it.
One does exercise alone or with a group of people, especially if you are the type that needs an encouragement or two. You can join a gym, or you can invest in equipment to have in your home, if you so desire. The idea is that you move physically, doing activities that you like so you can stick with it. You start slowly and build momentum.
Physical activity increases flexibility and balance to prevent falls, especially for older people. It boosts endurance so that you can go about your activities of daily living with minimal effort.
Stay active through daily activities, like taking the stairs instead of using the elevator or escalator. the idea is to move—don’t stay sedentary. Try to keep TV watching to a minimum. Don’t be a couch potato.
