The saying goes “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” We need time to recharge. Going away from work and the pressures of life is a must. It does not have to be something exotic. It can just be an hour or two of driving to a different place to enjoy the scenery of get a bite to eat or just hanging out with the people whose company you enjoy.
I took a trip to Santa Barbara, California, to see Lotusland. It was featured in the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times, and this garden had giant-sized cacti and a variety of plants that piqued my interest.
Since it had been a while since I visited the Santa Barbara mission, I decided to see it first, walk around town, and eat lunch there and then proceed to Lotusland in the afternoon.
The tour was a delight. The guide had a lot of interesting stories about the founder of the garden. Also, there was an exhibit called “Birds on the Brink,” and I enjoyed watching the birds hop from one guitar to another. A sound would be made once the birds landed on the instrument.
I had a wonderful time in Santa Barbara and anytime I can, I take small trips to nearby towns to de-stress.
